Emzor's Story In The Fight Against Malaria

The Malaria Scourge

Malaria is responsible for:

  • 60% of outpatients visit
  • 30% of childhood mortality
  • 25% of infant mortality
  • 11% maternal deaths
A Child dies of malaria every 30 seconds.

In 1987, ten (10) years after the birth of Emzor, we launched our first attack against malaria with our good old Chloroquine tablets. This was followed by the syrup in 1989.

When the Federal Government of Nigeria launched the Roll Back Malaria initiative in April 2000, Emzor was there. We were part of the African Heads of State summit in 2000.

As a responsive healthcare company, we repackaged our good old Chloroquine in line with the policy guidelines – the RBM pre-packaged colours. We invested heavily in machines, tools, packaging and blistering materials. Driven by our passion to give the best to our people, we diversified into the sulphadoxine/pyremethamine (SP) combination and MALDOX® was born, precisely in 2002.

This was followed by EMZORQUINE FORTE® (2+2+1) CAPSULE in 2003, all in an attempt to add value to the lives of our people. Emzor is aware of the endemic nature of malaria in our environment. We have remained responsive to the policy thrusts of governments and agencies in the mitigation of this disease. We are aware of the enormous responsibilities we have to partner in whatever way that will bring succour to our people.

It was this commitment that fired our passion when the current policy on ACT was launched. We refused to rush into the fray because we were concerned about how a people will be subjected into taking a bucketful of tablets (12 to 24 tablets in some instances) and at very complex regimen. We dared the odds and researched into how to reduce this burden, and today, our effort has been rewarded. People said it was not possible and here we are being part of history of presenting the 1st indigenously manufactured fixed-dose-combination of Artemisinin/Amodiaquine combination DIASUNATE®

DIASUNATE® is registered by NAFDAC with registration number 04-6911 and has been presented to the medical community who sees DIASUNATE® as a welcome relief from having to force patients to swallow a cupful of medicine.
