Emzor Presents Mama Kit And Drugs To The First Lady...
A high powered delegation led by the group Managing Director of Emzor group Chief (Mrs.) Stella Okoli, OON visited the first Lady of Nigeria Her Excellency Hajiya Turai Yar’Adua on Monday 2nd march 2009.
In her speech, Mrs. Okoli thanked the first lady for bringing back the voice of the Nigerian woman. She equally commended the impact of First Lady’s pet project, Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WAYEF) especially at the rural areas in curbing maternal and child mortality in the country. She used the opportunity to commend the President of Nigeria, whom she described as a man of character and integrity.
The Group Managing Director briefed the First lady on the activities of Emzor and its subsidiaries, tracing the company’s journey and achievements in the past three decades. she highlighted how Emzor pioneered the introduction of Misoprotol in the fight against maternal mortality and fixed dose ACT for the treatment of malaria in Nigeria .Other initiatives of Emzor mentioned were the introduction of Magphate for the management of pre-ecclampsia, Zolat for mass deworming and the activities of Emzor Hesco, the subsidiary responsible for provision of hospital equipment and consumables.
She solicited for partnership with the office of the First Lady in areas of roll back malaria, deworming, safe motherhood, supply of surgical equipment and insecticide treated nets.
Also in the Emzor delegation were the Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Onyeka Onyeibor, Executive Director Operation, Mrs. Nkeiru Okoro, Executive Director/ COO EmzorHesco, Mr. Sunday Agamah, Business Development Manager Emzor Abuja, Mr. Chinedum Amorha, Business Development Manager EmzorHesco Abuja, Mr. Chineyere Okorie, Business Development Executive Mr. Anslem Mbanefo and Miss Tonia Uduimoh of the Chike Okoli Foundation.
In her response, Her Excellency Hajiya Turai Yar’Adua expressed joy in the strides of Emzor and was particularly proud that the founder and CEO of Emzor is a lady. She announced that Emzor Mamas kit has been certified to be the best by UNICEF and other international agencies .She pledged to work with Emzor in the area of maternal and child health and promise to involve wives of governors and wives of chairmen of local governments in the country. The First Lady’s entourage includes Wife of the Vice-President, Senate President, Senate leader, House Leader and FCT Minister
Major highlight of the visit was the donation of various classes of drugs worth 5 million naira by Emzor, to alleviate serious humanitarian crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the donation of Mama’s kits worth 10 million naira to Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WAYEF), as Emzor contribution in the noble fight against maternal mortality.
