Aspirin has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic actions. It is used for the relief of less severe types of pains and also in acute and chronic inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. Aspirin should be used with caution in patients prone to dyspepsia or known to have ulcer and also in renal or hepatic function impairment. It should not the given to patients with haemophilia or to those with an intolerance to aspirin (especially sensitive asthmatics).
